As early as I could remember, I always had a liking for outdoor activities. I recalled days spent wading through rivers for a cool bath, enduring the pain from ant bites to start an ant farm and “scientific” expeditions to map the forest. I believe it is this interest that ignited my passion in biology; a field I chose to start off my career. Being a field biologist in Rentokil is very much like practicing the dark arts of biology; using life science to bring “balance” to pest populations. Though it may sound grim, without managing pests, the rats and cockroaches in the world would run riot causing untold damage. Remember the plague? In short, a pest control professional’s job can easily be summed up by the words of Jay in the movie Men in Black; “We are the last line of defense of mankind against the scum (in our case, creepy-crawlies) of the universe.” I am honored to be among those serving in that line.
