Rentokil Keeps Flying Insects at Bay

Rentokil offers small retailers and food firms a cost effective solution to combat flying insect problems

June, 2007 – London, UK — Rentokil Pest Control announces the launch of the Luminos 1 Flying Insect Control Unit, a cost-effective, safe solution aimed at controlling flying insects within the food retail industry. As part of Rentokil’s comprehensive flying insect control range, Luminos 1 has been specifically designed for low risk environments and allows business owners to comply with Health & Safety legislation and reduce product wastage. The product is aimed at small businesses such as cafés, bakeries, local retailers and convenience stores.

Luminos 1 provides business owners with a safe and pesticide-free method of flying insect control and is fitted with an efficient 36W ultraviolet-A (UV-A) lamp. The UV-A light is invisible to the human eye, but is detected by insects. Once attracted to the Luminos 1, insects are captured on one of the two glue boards. Unlike other high voltage grid flying insect control units, the use of glue boards eliminates the possibility of air-borne insect fragments that can create potential health and safety risks.

Luminos 1 is recommended for areas where serious infestations are not common, such as small restaurants and shops. This discrete, unobtrusive unit can be easily installed and ongoing maintenance is relatively simple. Luminos 1 uses high quality replacement glue boards manufactured to prevent warping and marked with a grid to aid monitoring of fly levels. Luminos 1 is supplied with user manuals and simple step-by-step instructions.

For flying insect problems affecting larger premises, Rentokil has high-powered units in its comprehensive range, which can also be used to tackle wide-scale infestations.
