Backed by the resources of a national company, we provide quality property care services, tailored to the needs of our customers from residential and housing associations homes to universities, hospitals and a wide variety of other businesses.
I have worked for Rentokil Property Care for over 20 years in a variety of roles. With 15 years surveying experience. I am currently managing South West England & South Wales. Working as a team, our focus is to provide a high quality professional service to our customers.
Much of the region is devoted to farmland, so we work closely with the local agricultural community to ensure their buildings and homes are protected from issues such as wet or dry rot, rising damp and woodworm. The only major urban area consists of the seaside resort of Bournemouth, the historic port and borough of Poole, the towns of Christchurch and Ferndown plus many surrounding villages. Bournemouth was established in the Georgian era when sea bathing became popular. Two other major settlements in the county are Dorchester, which has been the county town since at least 1305 and Weymouth, a major seaside resort since the 18th century. Somerset has two cities, and only a small number of towns. The largest urban areas are Weston-super-Mare, Taunton, Yeovil and Bridgwater. Many smaller settlements developed in the middle Ages due to their strategic importance in relation to geographical features, such as river crossings or valleys in ranges of hills.
The range of rural, coastal and urban areas throughout Somerset and Dorset, offer a variety of differing age properties, from medieval houses to modern apartments. Any property can be exposed to the risks of damage from woodworm rot and damp, whatever its age, size or history. However, these kinds of problems can be more prevalent in older buildings, such as Georgian, Victorian and early 20th Century properties.
Woodworm is the every-day name for hungry larvae of wood-boring beetles. Adults lay eggs in cracks in wood and the larvae (woodworm) burrow deep into it and feed, making a maze of tunnels over several years. They will happily eat away at wooden floors, furniture and timbers and if left untreated, can seriously weakens wooden beams in a property which can lead to structural failure of the timbers.
Spotting the early signs of woodworm is important; allowing a qualified surveyor to complete a woodworm survey assessing the extent of any problem, the type of woodworm involved and recommending the most effective, targeted treatment to eliminate the pest before it can spread any further through the property.
I have worked for Rentokil Property Care for over 2 years and have gained a wide knowledge base within the building industry, which has proved valuable when identifying defects and recommending suitable remedial treatment for the preservation of your property.
I enjoy working for Rentokil Property Care as a Surveyor, using my Building Surveyor's degree gained from Greenwich University to offer solutions to timber and damp problems in buildings.
