Frequently Asked Questions about Rentokil Insurance

Why should I take out insurance cover with Rentokil Insurance?

Woodboring insects can fly into your property at any time, wood-rotting fungi spores are in the air we breathe, damp courses can gradually deteriorate and become less effective and wall ties may corrode over time. Most ordinary household insurance policies fail to provide any protection against these likely problems, but Rentokil Insurance provides cover for all these possibilities.

Why can’t I rely on my long-term guarantee?

Long-term guarantees are excellent but, naturally, only relate to the areas of your home that have been treated. A Rentokil Insurance policy covers the areas surveyed but not treated.

I had a survey and no treatment was necessary. Why should I take out a Rentokil Insurance policy?

Any survey is only a snapshot in time and problems can occur in areas that were apparently unaffected at the time of the survey.

How do I take out an insurance policy?

A survey will be arranged via Rentokil Property Care. If the survey identifies that immediate treatment is required, the specialist treatment work must be carried out by Rentokil Property Care before a policy can be written. To book a survey, either complete our online Contact Us form or call Property Care on 0800 0121 437.

How much will my premium cost?

When Rentokil Property Care undertake a survey, the Surveyor will calculate a premium based on a number of factors associated with the age, size and construction of your property. In this way the premium is personalised for your particular property.

Have I got insurance or a guarantee?

If Rentokil Property Care carried out treatment work in your home in the past, you may have a long term guarantee for the treated areas. You should check the original contract documents to be certain. If you have a Rentokil Insurance policy, you will pay an annual insurance premium. Insurance policies cover areas originally surveyed where no problems were evident and no treatment was required at the time of the survey.

What happens if I sell the property?

The insurance policy, just like the long-term guarantee, can be transferred to the new owners of the property. Please visit our page on Moving Home.

How do I make a claim?

The claims process begins with your call. Simply call us on 01342 332 676 to report the problem. A Claim Assessor may visit the property and inspect the area in question. If treatment work is needed, we will usually arrange for Rentokil Property Care to undertake this work for you. Our Claims department also administers claims for Rentokil Property Care's guarantee holders. You will need to ensure that you have the necessary guarantee documents available before we can consider your claim. For more information, please visit our page on Making a Claim.

What happens if I change my mind and want to cancel the policy?

You have the right to cancel the policy within 14 days without giving us any reason. If that happens, we will refund your premium but we have the right to charge you for the cover we provided from the commencement date of the policy, until the date you cancel it. If you cancel after this 14 days period, we will not refund your premium.

What happens if I make changes to my property?

If you have made any changes to your property, other than routine repair or maintenance, please tell us on 01342 332 560 as this could affect your policy. Examples of changes you must tell us about are the addition of extensions and conservatories, removal of internal walls and replacement of internal doors and floors. These examples do not cover everything you should tell us about, if you are unsure please contact us.
