What is Scores on the Doors

Scores on the Doors is a Food Standards Agency initiative launched in December 2008. As a national scheme, it is designed to measure and promote excellence in food hygiene and is based on your Environmental Health Office (EHO) audits.

Scores on the Doors is a requirement for all food based businesses and looks at their confidence in management, hygiene, safety and structural elements of a workplace.

All premises serving or selling food will be given a food hygiene rating from 0 to 5 stars.

While it is still optional for you to display your ‘Scores on the Doors’ rating, local authorities and the FSA are going to promote the scheme to consumers to demand the results are displayed prominently on or near the door.
