What if a company celebrated its 100th birthday by giving you a gift? That’s precisely what Rentokil Pest Control is doing. As we proudly mark a century of keeping homes and businesses safe from pests, our ambitious R100 Campaign is supporting 100 charities and community causes across the UK and Ireland in 2025.
Instead of looking inward, in this centenary year the company is looking outward, turning a milestone into a mission of community support. It’s a celebration that feels less like a corporate anniversary and more like a hundred heartfelt thank-you notes scattered across the UK and Ireland.
Marking a Century with Community Support
The R100 campaign isn’t just a token nod to charity; it’s one of the largest charity initiatives the company has ever undertaken. Across our branches from England to Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, colleagues were invited to nominate local causes close to their hearts.
The result is a patchwork of goodwill: from sports clubs and children’s charities to animal shelters, food banks and health related charities each chosen cause reflecting a community need or a cause that is close to one or more of our colleagues. Think of it as Rentokil’s way of saying “thank you” to the communities that have trusted us with their pest control services for generations.
Spreading Christmas Joy in Southampton
One shining example comes from the south coast of England, where the Rentokil Southampton team have thrown their support behind the Southampton Christmas Toy Appeal, a long-running initiative that ensures vulnerable kids wake up on Christmas morning to something special.
At a midsummer branch meeting (yes, Christmas in July!), the team presented a cheque for £1,600 to the toy appeal organisers. But their generosity didn’t stop at money. Later this year, vans and volunteers from the branch will be as busy putting in some extra hours working as Santa’s elves, and helping transport and deliver hundreds of donated toys.

The impact? Imagine the delight on a child’s face ripping open a gift they never expected. That’s the real magic the Southampton team will help to bring this December.
Councillor Alex Winning, Cabinet Member for Children and Learning said; “We are grateful to Rentokil for supporting the Southampton Toy Appeal with such a generous donation. I’d also like to thank the staff who have pledged their help to ensure children and young people wake up on Christmas morning to toys and gifts.”
Serving Up Support in Edinburgh
Travel 400 miles north, and you’ll find another R100 story warming hearts and bellies in Edinburgh. Here, the team supported Soul Food Edinburgh, an initiative run out of a local church that provides hot, freshly prepared meals and a side of kindness to people facing homelessness, poverty or loneliness.
Our head of HR volunteers for this charity already and was keen to get fellow colleagues from Rentokil and some of sister businesses onboard as well. One crisp morning, colleagues rolled up their sleeves at the church hall, to provide hands-on expertise clearing and planting in the grounds, installing a fly control unit in the main kitchen and helping to deep clean the main areas of the building.

As with every R100 project, a financial donation was part of the package, providing this small charity with a boost to continue serving their delicious food to those in need. A company known for fighting pest infestations now helping to fight hunger and loneliness, one warm meal at a time.
More Than Just Pest Control
For us at Rentokil Pest Control, protecting people isn’t just about keeping rodents or insects at bay. It’s about caring for the communities we live and work in. Our R100 campaign is a reminder of that commitment. From Southampton to Edinburgh, each local project shows that behind the uniforms, vans and pest control equipment are people with big hearts. As we celebrate 100 years of expertise and innovation, we’re also celebrating the simple act of helping a neighbour. In a world that often feels divided, these 100 acts of support stand out as bright spots on the map, each marking a place where hope and help have blossomed.
What Giving Back Really Means
This is just the beginning. Our centenary year is setting the tone for the next chapter, one where business success goes hand in hand with community wellbeing.
So, what’s next after a hundred years of pest control and community care? Only the future will tell, but one thing’s certain: we’re entering our next century with the same commitment to serve.
