Newcastle sits on the northern bank of the River Tyne. The city developed around the Roman settlement Pons Aelius and was named after the castle built in 1080. The port developed in the 16th century and, along with the shipyards lower down the River Tyne, was amongst the world's largest shipbuilding and ship-repairing centres. In parts, Newcastle retains a medieval street layout, with narrow alleys or 'chares', most of which can only be traversed by foot, particularly around the riverside. Stairs from the riverside to higher parts of the city centre and the Castle Keep, recorded in the 14th century, remain intact in places.
Local area knowledge and pest expertise are an integral part of our Newcastle team of pest control experts. Our team of technicians, surveyors, bird specialists and field biologists are highly skilled and BPCA (British Pest Control Association) certified. They provide professional pest control for homes and businesses, ensuring the safest and most effective treatments are used to deal with pest problems in your property.
Large-scale regeneration has replaced former shipping premises with imposing new office developments, the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, the Norman Foster-designed Sage Gateshead music centre and the innovative, tilting Gateshead Millennium Bridge. The Newcastle and Gateshead Quaysides are now a thriving, cosmopolitan area. This growth in retail and tourism in the city has led to the development of many hotels, pubs, bars, cafes and restaurants to provide for visitors as well as locals. Scavenging rats, mice, pigeons and gulls will take food scraps from restaurants, cafes, takeaways and unsecured bin bags, making these areas ideal for such pests. Our local pest control experts deliver targeted, innovative solutions to effectively eliminate pests such as rodents, bed bugs, cockroaches and clothes moths.
Mice and rats are scavengers in urban areas such as Gosforth or Hazlerigg. Rodents are omnivorous, eating anything from items of rubbish and compost bins to discarded left-overs and fruits and seeds in gardens and parks, as well as food in our homes if they get in. If you’ve seen signs of rodents, the safest and most effective way to get rid of mice or rats is by professional, targeted treatments.
While our avian specialists offer effective deterrents for a variety of nuisance birds, such as bird proofing and hawking, using our birds of prey as natural deterrents to keep your premises free from gulls and feral pigeons.
