Suffolk sits on Britain’s east coast; its 50 miles of stunning coastline are peppered with towns and tiny villages. These villages and medieval market towns like Lavenham, Kersey, Clare and Hadleigh are full of crocked cobbled streets, timber-framed buildings and lavish churches - testament to the rich Tudor Suffolk wool merchants. Lavenham is often called ‘England’s Best-Preserved Medieval Village,’ containing no less than 340 listed buildings. With a history of boat building, sail and rope making that dates back to the Middle Ages, Woodbridge has for centuries been shaped by its position on the River Deben.
Across the river Deben sits Sutton Hoo, site of a 7th century ship burial found to contain a horde of Anglo-Saxon treasure, believed to be the final resting place of King Raedwald of the Eastern Angles. These pretty locations are popular with tourists, so can offer rodents and scavenging gulls easy food scraps from restaurants, cafes, takeaways and unsecured bin bags are an easy food source for cockroaches, rats and mice.
The towns and villages on the Suffolk coast are wonderfully varied. The largest is Lowestoft, which boasts a wide sandy beach, whilst the Port of Felixstowe is the largest container port in the United Kingdom. Ipswich harbour and waterfront area has undergone an extensive rebuilding which has turned a former industrial dock area into a residential and commercial centre. Coastal areas such as these offer pest plenty of opportunities. Our local bird control specialists can offer innovative, effective deterrents for a variety of nuisance birds, such as gulls and feral pigeons.
Rats and mice are opportunistic scavengers flourishing in urban areas from Beccles to Felixstowe, that can offer them easy food and shelter.
